Microsoft 365 and Office 2024 for home users and small businesses

Office 2024 is a one-time purchase, unlike Microsoft 365, which is only sold as a subscription that must be renewed annually. While this may seem like an advantage to some, it should be noted that Office 2024 is much less comprehensive than Microsoft 365. Only the basic applications are present (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote in the Office Home 2024 and Office Home and Business 2024 versions), and without their premium content. Office 2024 users also do not receive updates and functional additions from Microsoft. They can only install the product on a single PC or Mac. Finally, technical support is limited to 60 days.

Microsoft 365 is a subscription that brings together the most collaborative and advanced features. Microsoft 365 notably includes the main Office desktop applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). You also benefit from additional online storage space and cloud functionalities. With a subscription, you will always have access to the latest features, patches, and security updates, as well as technical support at no extra cost.

The applications available to Mac users and the specific features included may differ from those available to PC users. With Microsoft 365, you are flexible. With your account, you are not exclusively limited to Mac or PC, so you can switch between devices with ease.

You can share Microsoft 365 Family with five other people (six users in total). Microsoft 365 Personal can be used by one person.

If you have an active Microsoft 365 Family subscription, you can share it with up to five other people. Each person you share your subscription with can install Microsoft 365 on all their devices and sign in to five devices simultaneously.

To add someone to your subscription, sign in to your Microsoft account and follow the on-screen instructions. Each person added receives an email with the steps to follow. Once that person has accepted and followed those steps, their information, including information about the installations they use, appears on their My Account page. You can stop sharing your subscription with someone or remove a device they use by signing in to your Microsoft account.

Internet access is required to install and activate all the latest applications and services included in all Microsoft 365 subscription offers. Note that if you are already a subscriber, you do not need to reinstall or purchase another subscription.

For Microsoft 365 offerings, you also need internet access to manage your subscription account, such as to install Office applications on other PCs or to change billing options. Internet access is also required to access documents stored on OneDrive, unless you install the OneDrive desktop application.

You must also connect to the internet regularly to keep your version of Microsoft 365 up to date and benefit from automatic upgrades. If you do not connect to the internet at least once every 31 days, your applications will go into reduced functionality mode, which means that you can view or print your documents, but cannot edit them or create new ones. To reactivate your applications, simply reconnect to the internet.

You do not need to be connected to the internet to use Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, because they are fully installed on your computer.

You are not "trapped" and remain free to renew or not renew your subscription when the time comes, and you can be sure of always being able to do so under the best conditions offered on the market.

Then sign in using the email address and password of the Microsoft account associated with your Microsoft 365 subscription (in some cases, the sign-in will be automatic, you will not even need to authenticate).

On the Services & subscriptions page, you will need to find your Microsoft 365 subscription, then click "Manage."

Then simply do one of the following:

• If a "Turn off recurring billing" link appears, select it to deactivate recurring billing.
• If a "Cancel" link appears, select it to cancel the subscription. In this case, a refund for unused time may be offered to you by Microsoft. If you choose to obtain a refund, your subscription will immediately switch to "reduced functionality" mode. Otherwise, you will have access to your subscription until it expires.
• If a "Turn on recurring billing" link appears, this means that automatic recurring billing was already deactivated.
• If the "Turn off recurring billing" or "Cancel" option is not available, and "Paid with" and "None" appear, this means that your current subscription will end on the date indicated in the "Expires on" field.
